SUMMARY:The Shoebox Project Holiday Drive Kick-Off
DESCRIPTION:Help kick-off our 2022 Holiday Shoebox Drive with a family friendly day of fun!\n\n\n\n\n\nFREE digital pictures for anyone with Santa!!! (12:00p.m.-3:00p.m.)\nFace painting\nCrafts for kids\nPictures at our holiday photo booth\nLearn how to make a gift-filled shoebox\nWrite a message to be included in one of our gift-filled shoeboxes\nSee what is available at our Online Silent Auction\nLearn how you can support The Shoebox Project\nMeet staff from some of the local shelters and agencies we support\n\nWho are we?\nAt The Shoebox Project we have a mission to share empathy\, kindness and compassion with local women impacted by homelessness through the collection and distribution of gift-filled Shoeboxes and messages of support. Our vision is a world where all women are seen\, valued\, and treated with dignity and compassion. \nWhat do we do?\nShoebox gifts are collected by our volunteers across the country during the holiday season as well as for special occasions and events. We ask donors to fill a standard-sized\, decorated Shoebox with approximately $50 worth of gifts and essentials that any woman might enjoy\, and include a warm greeting or message of support. Our volunteers distribute these gifts to local women’s shelters and community agencies serving women impacted by homelessness in your community. \nFor women who have been displaced from their homes and estranged from their families\, special occasions can be particularly challenging. Often\, women report feeling disconnected from society\, invisible and alone. A Shoebox gift is a powerful reminder for a woman that she has not been forgotten and that she remains a valued and respected member of her community. \nProduct and gift-filled shoebox donations will be accepted on-site.\nPlease click here to learn more. \nPlease click here for more information on what to bring.

SUMMARY:Take a Break in support of Cornerstone
DESCRIPTION:Ottawa’s Piano Man\, Dave Kalil hosts virtual concert to raise funds for Cornerstone’s Booth Residents impacted by fire\, mold\, and water damage.\nDave will play on his Facebook page live this Saturday\, October 22nd at 7:30PM EST and help raise crucial funds for Cornerstone.\n\nCornerstone is trying to raise $50\,000 for residents at Booth Street to get their home back.\n\nA pledge of $2.00 per viewer will donate between $100-200 depending on how many people watch the show.\n\nThis summer residents were unexpectedly uprooted due to a fire in one of the rooms that led to extensive water and mold damage throughout their building.\nFor some residents\, this was their first home ever and for others\, this is their new home\, a place to heal and recover from homelessness. Unfortunately\, the facility where residents stayed during this time does not have cooking or laundry facilities onsite\, everything had to be done by a third party\, plus many items need to be replaced for the women\, including mattresses. This resulted in an increase in unexpected expenses.\n\nWe could use your help during our time of need! We have an incredible community and we couldn’t provide housing and shelter to 200 women every day without you.\n\nTo tune in\, listen to some great tunes and support an important cause in your city\, please check out our event page: https://fb.me/e/21G7LZEpv
