August 23, 2021 – Ottawa, ON - Cornerstone Housing for Women is hosting its third annual Purple Tie Gala presented by Livingston MacDonald Wealth Management on October 2, 2021. It is their most important fundraiser of the year, and will be broadcast virtually once again.
Last year’s first-ever virtual gala sold out, bringing in $73,000 to help Cornerstone with the increasing COVID-19 related expenses, housing and program supports.

“It was incredible to see the community come together to raise money for vulnerable women in Ottawa, amid the most challenging year,” says Sarah Davis, Cornerstone’s new executive director. “This past year has been like no other. Women needing shelter more than doubled, we had to move our shelter twice throughout this pandemic, and there was increased feelings of isolation and mental health challenges for women. We know hope, healing and more housing options are possible with your support.”
Join the virtual gala on October 2nd at 7pm for a special night of gourmet curated treats, live entertainment from local artists, and a silent auction to bid the night away.
This year’s virtual gala will take the form of a community “watch party”. Gather your friends and family together and watch the live event on Rogers TV (Channel 22) or stream on Cornerstone’s Facebook Page. The one-hour show promises to be a special night of music, hope, and celebration, and most importantly, will help improve the lives of women experiencing homelessness.
Tickets are now on sale for $95 and there are a limited number of 200 tickets. Tickets include:
New this year, Fratelli Westboro, women-owned-and-operated fine Italian dining, is providing $20 gift cards to the first 50 ticket purchase holders!
Ticket buyers are encouraged to make it an extra special evening and dress for the gala while they watch the broadcast with their closest friends and family at home.
“Purple dresses, purple ties, purple hair, anything goes,” says Joseph Cull, Purple Tie Gala Co-Host and member of the gala planning committee. “We hope everyone will get together in their best purple attire, celebrate with their closest friends and family, share photos of themselves during the broadcast, and help Cornerstone bring in much needed funds to continue their incredible housing programs for vulnerable women in our city.”
