Sarah Davis (on leave)

Executive Director

Sarah has been supporting vulnerable populations – primarily women that are at risk or have experienced homelessness - for over 15 years. She completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology at Carleton University and also has a College Diploma in Correctional Work. She has considerable experience working as a front-line staff and has progressively taken on more senior roles with various social justice and social service organizations across Ontario. Sarah is an active board member of the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa (ATEHO). Through ATEHO and other organizations, Sarah has participated in public education and advocacy, from supporting individuals at Federal Hearings to delivering lectures in university classrooms. Sarah is honoured to be an advocate for the women of Ottawa and proud to be working alongside the compassionate Cornerstone community of staff members, residents, volunteers, donors and community partners.

Kate Jackson

Acting Executive Director/em>

Kate is a Chartered Professional Accountant, who joined Cornerstone with over 20 years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, long-term and short-term forecasting and budget creation. Kate brings expertise in the development and implementation of financial policies and strategic decision-making and has led the key strategic processes to monitor the financial health, risk management and goal progression of an organization. Kate is committed and honored to support Cornerstone’s mission to provide safe affordable housing and emergency shelter to vulnerable women in Ottawa.

Kate McCord (on leave)

Director of Human Resources

Kate joined Cornerstone with over 5 years of experience in recruitment and selection, policy development, accessibility, diversity and inclusion and human resources planning. Kate brings expertise in recruitment strategy and HR program delivery. She holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Toronto.

Martine Dore

Director of Programs and Services

Martine rejoined Cornerstone in 2019, having originally been with Cornerstone from 1995 – 2007. For over 25 years she has focused her efforts working with vulnerable women and those experiencing homelessness in social justice organizations in Ottawa. She has a College Diploma in Social Services and has garnered experience working front line and assuming progressive leadership roles. Martine identifies being drawn back to Cornerstone because she values the community that Cornerstone creates for, and by, the women with whom we work.


Amber Bramer

Director of Development and Communications

Amber joins Cornerstone with over 5 years of expertise in donor relations, strategic communications, advocacy campaigns, and media marketing strategies. She also has over 5 years of experience working with vulnerable populations on the front lines to fundraising and communications management roles. Amber has a Master of Arts from Brock University in Critical Sociology and a Master of Political Management from Carleton University. Amber is excited to work in a feminist environment where she can help to elevate the voices of the women we serve through storytelling, fundraising, and advocacy.

Shannon Miller

Associate Director of Shelter Operations

Shannon Miller has been working in the social services sector for well over 20 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University and a Social Services Worker Diploma from Algonquin College. Shannon has been a dedicated employee of Cornerstone Housing for Women for the last 24 years. Shannon’s time with Cornerstone has seen her move from the frontlines at the Emergency Women’s Shelter to individual Case Management and Housing support. For the last 4 years Shannon’s role is that of Associate Director of Shelter Operations. She oversees the daily operations of the busy Cornerstone Emergency Women’s Shelter and is responsible for a team of 20 dedicated frontline staff, case managers and managers. When Shannon is not at work she is a busy Mom to three teenagers and two fluffy fur babies.
