This holiday season, you can help women like me realize their dreams.

At 65, I crossed a stage I once thought I’d never reach.

I earned my Grade 12 diploma after a long battle with instability, illness, and starting over.

For most of my life, finishing high school felt impossible. I was sent out of home at 15years and spent years moving from place to place, working long hours just to survive, and trying to manage my mental health without the right support. I enrolled in school many times, but without stability, I couldn’t keep going. My dream always slipped away.

Everything changed when I came to Cornerstone.

Cornerstone gave me stability, dignity, and a community that believed in me. I had a safe room of my own, people who cared about me, and the kind of support that made it possible for me to focus on my education.

The staff here helped me get a personal support worker, they encouraged me through everything, and made sure I never felt alone.

Even when I was diagnosed with breast cancer halfway through my courses, they stayed by my side. That support helped me return to my studies and keep going.

At 65 years old, I proudly walked across the stage and received my Grade 12 diploma.

I know there are so many other women just like me, women with dreams they’ve had to put on hold because life keeps getting in the way.

This holiday season, you can help women like me realize their dreams.
